Can I still enlist in the Marine Corps if I have a misdemeanor or felony relating to vandalism?
Im 17 and recently took part in a high school senior prank gone wrong. The group I was with used caution tape, syrup, flour and tempera paint to write 2011 on the lockers and senior stage. The only words we wrote were: 2011, c/o 2011, and the name of our high school. There were no words of profanity written or obscene images drawn. This is my first run in with the law. I understand the difference of a prank and vandalism and deeply regret what I have done. I have been talking to a recruiter recently and have been trying to get my parents to sign the enlistment papers since I am not 18 yet. I was released to my parents at the police department after being pulled out of class by administration and arrested. I have not yet received the paperwork informing me of my court date. The officer said depending if Im charged as an adult or juvenile, this may be a felony or misdemeanor. Im not sure how this will affect my chances at enlisting.
